NEED A SLED

I found a few sleds locally but I'm keeping my options open. I'd like to buy one Sunday. I have cash in hand. It doesnt snow enough here so I'm not looking for anything too expensive. Any sleds under 2500 will be considered but i will be interested in the ons with pictures FIRST.

A friend has an MXZX 440 race sled. He claims that its faster than some 600's and 700's. I wont be racing it, I'll be trail riding and I dont know if it will run well with 93 octane mixed with two stroke octane booster. Sometimes I will have to stop and get just 93. Is the MXZ "X" model really that fast?

If anyone has a sled under 2500 needing no work orhas any advice on whether or not i should buy the 440X ust let me know

Thanks

Phil

NICE SLED!! The other pictures you had didnt do it justice. It looks brand new. How fast is it? I have never owned a sled and I was looking at 700's and 800's. Will it break 90, and how fast does it get there?

The good thing with these fan sleds is they run on pump gas without any mods and dont require much maintenance.

Not sure on the speed i just run it around the yard and a little on the trails i had it around 70 with plenty more room to go faster i just really tool around on the sled. its a great trail sled cause its got some performance parts and it real snappy!! Its never been trailered and its always been in a heated garage year around. If your worried about the speed you could always change the clutching or the gears, but i think its fast enough, for the overall speed i would ask some one who knows a little bit more on them...Let me know...

i personal would not buy a seld with over 3500 miles in it you dont know how hard the sled was riddin over that time or were and the 02 chassis is ok but you will be way more happy witha rev or a polaris chassis. 600 are fast!!! but and 800 is awesome yea they are alittle hevy but if your weight is over or around 200 you dont need to worry. a 600 will easyily do 110mph but its just how fast it will get there

A 600 is plenty fast for the trails around here, the 800 doesnt weigh that much more than the 600 but like I said you dont need a 800 around here its kindof over kill unless you're one of the slednecks that ride with their thumb pinned to the bar the whole time and get the trails shut down and get the privelgedges of the club trails taken away by land owners. I ride a 600 Rev and its plenty for me, last year I had a F7 sno pro that was faster and rode better than the Rev though.

I had an f7 sno pro and also rode e few of my friends revs, the f7 is def faster than a 600 rev, but there is no way it rides better. Thats just crazy.

the 600 is definitely my favorite class. I got an 03 Arctic Cat ZR 600 EFI Snowpro. Tops out at around 90 or 95 but boy does it get there fast. I also got a 1996 Arctic Cat ZRT 600 Triple. Got it to about 110 or 115 on the lake

Well I could find a sled with less miles for around the same price but it would be a much much older year and some havent been rebuilt in that case. I dont want a rev becuase I'm not interested enough in snowmobiling yet to want a sled that expensive. I just want something that will last the winter and be fun to ride and then I'll just build it like crazy over the summer.

THE ONLY thing that discourages me about buying the MXZ-X 600 is that the track looks pretty worn out. I'll post a picture in a minute.

Does this look like it will last the season? If I were to get a new track I wouldnt know where to start. I think its a 121x15x1.25 or something? What tracks will fit? I'd rather just buy a used one off of someones old sled that they arent using. I dont know what tracks would fit and I definitely have no idea how to remove/replace the old track. Can the studs be removed and used on a different track?

that sleed looks like it would be a good buy, if i didnt have a sled already and was looking to buy one i prolly would get that really, and about the hole track thing yea it is getting down there but its still in ok shape as long as the studs arnt riped out or if there isnt any rips in the track it would last the year, and this would be a good sled to make the way you want after this winter, you should be able to pick up alot of parts for this should be easy to buy for, so if it was me and if its in your price range i prolly would buy it

What a buy! The compression is really good, it has brand new carbides, the track actually has A LOT more life than the picture shows and none of the studs are torn off, nor is the track ripped anywhere. I love the sled...now I just need some snow.

Thanks for everyones help/offers.

ha yea i think all of us snowmobilers are hoping for snow very soon! i know i am!!! but yea you got the registration and title with the sled right? you need these to register it to ride on the trails, its a pain right in the **** if you dont have them, its ALOT of paper work you haft to fill out and have them sign and fill out if they dont got it

I have the old registration and bill of sale but there is no title. What am I going to have to do?

sleds don't have titles, just transferable registrations. Thats all you need

Okay nice...the only problems are that the registration is pretty beat up and hard to read, and the guy I bought it from DIDNT register it, so the bill of sale is from a different person than the registration. The DMV sapposedly needs a bill of sale from the last person it was registered to or else I have to register it from scratch...

Yeah, it shouldnt be a big deal. There's no snow on the ground so I have more than enough time to figure it all out.

Its in MUCH better condition than I thought it was and he delivered it an hour and a half away. i'll probably dump a grand into modding it during the summer season.

TeflonDef i have personally ridden the 440 sno-pro and the owner is my friend. he babys all of his stuff and has never beaten on it. i have ridden it and it does have some kick, especially coming out of the corners, the skis come right off the ground. the sled is amazing. i want to buy it myself i just dont have the money. it is definately worth every penny. trust me on this, the sled will not let you down.
