This lathe has the 10 Swing with a Standard 1 through hole spindle capable of the 5C collet closer. 36" between centers. This series Sheldon lathe was and still is one of the most popular lathes made by The Sheldon Machine Co
I am not a machinist i used it to fix or fabricate small parts too big for me moving to california soon also have a mill
its a catalog number exl 56-p
bearings are in excellent shape slides are good worm gears for movement great one end cap for worm gead end is missing cheap part can probably make it soory for inadequet description like I said I AM NOT A MACHINIST i SAW IT WANTED IT AND BOUGHT IT BARELY USED IT. my dads friend sold it to me said it could easly hold a .001 inch tolerance he made cannons and parts he was a machinist getting ready to die thanks for your interest
i know if i parted it out on ebay the stead rest went for 200 recently and a gear box went for 800 its a quick change have extra gears? i really hate to ebay it the collets go for a couple hundred on ebay tons more tooling not pictured carbide cutters inserts holders threaders ....

its still here goes to ebay in a few weeks come one people its a sheldon tool room lathe make some custom fabricated parts like the factory guys have made turn new axels out if titanium and better yet some transmission shafts out of tool steel
