need help

im all confused about truck tires! lol i need new tires for my truck, i have 265/75/16 bfgoodrich all terrain on it right now and they are shot, its a 1994 chevy k1500, im looking at buying some kind of mud terrain tires, they will need to preform well in the mud pit but get good gas milage and not wear quick on the roads, im also thinking that if these were new that they would not fit!(bought them used at half worn) any sugestions on a tire? and will i need to go smaller? i was looking at supper swampers but idk? hit me up if you have any ideas or have a set of tires you want to get ridd off        Thanks

im also confused on how tires are sized? what is the 265 measuring, what is the 75 measuring, and i know the 16 is the rim size

this is what i am looking at

yeah the cooper st's are like the bfg all terrains. there's the cooper stt there a lug swamper type tire. now the 265 measures the height and the 75 measures thes the width and the 16 is the rim size.

i think i want to go with the super swamper LTB... but im a lil confused on there tire sizing? i hafta be able to turn with out any rubbing thats why i think a 35inch tire if it was new would be to big, so i was thinking a 33 inch tire? would that give enough clearence with the sidewall nobs?? with out them rubbing? i dont get there sizing at all, it goes 33/13.5/16.... whats the 13.5 stand for? im not formilier with super swampers, only been driving for a year and half now and my first set of tires were 265/75/16 its set up different for sizing than super swampers so im lost i gess

if someone would be willing to check this website out and sugest on what tire size of the LTB i should pick, that would be great!! thanks

ok thanks for that info, i still dont know tho, i didnt really like the all terrain tires tho im looking for more aggressive tire with side lugs and lots of tread, thats why i was leaning towerds the super swamper tire b/c they have a great side lug and aggressive tread pattern

so if someone has ever bought super swamper tires b4 or know what there tire size stands for, can you tell me what the 13.5 is?? in this size tire 33/13.5/16?

or if someone has any other tires like this to suggest to me, looking for big side lugs, with aggressive tread pattern and deep lugs, but at same time get good gas millage for road use, may buy used if you have a nice set of 4

look at the overall diameter of the 265's and then compare them to the 33's then the 35's i couldn't tell ya without my charts in front of me. you kinda want the overall diameter to find out if they will fit.

i cant go any bigger than a 30inch without cutting bumper and fender=[ i was told what i had were a 35 inch and they arnt, they are only a 31inch, what i have on there now are supost to be a 31 inch but they are worn right down and they barly fit now but they do fit and turn good without any rubbing when i turn so im worried that if i get anything over a 30inch tires the side lugs will rub and get ruined when i turn! i dont want to go and spend $600 and have them get ruined like that, i dont think the 31inch would turn, but right now they are worn down to like a 30inch or so and turn, so do you think i could get away with a  30 inch or should i go one size smaller? got to remember to the bigger the better b/c its gunna see some mud and the higher it sits the better

and still what does the 13.5 mean in 33/13.5/16? for the super swamper LTB

well i just relised that super swamper only makes as small as 31 inch, i can cut the fender and bumper just didnt really want to b/c then its more likely to rust faster=[ but owell i gess.....

this is what im thinking but would like your opinion on them

that middle number like 31/11.5/16 is the width of the tire itself....you can go look up a tire size converter that you can plug in like 285/50/20 and see what the equals out to be in regular standard american sizing like 33/12.5/20

im in the market for tires on my Titan as well..as for your rubbing and sizing issues on what to get..i would recomend looking into what the offset and backspacing is on your rims..that can be a big problem..like i know i just put a rough country 3 inch leveling kit in my titan..then the 305/50/20 tires i got on there now..are practically rubbing the new A arms that came with the kit..so im gonna need to look into getting new rims with different offsets and backspacing so it will push my tires out a little more as im looking into 33s

idk how much you plan on spending for tires...but if your looking for a real agressive mud tire like those superswampers..dont bother thinking that your going to get good life out of any...if you do alot of road driving..they will be eatin up fairly quick
and once again..i have noooo idea on what u plan on spending..but heres some tires to look into that im also debating on myself

Nitto Mud Grappler ( they look awesome...not to mention a crap load of people have them...and from my research..they seem to hold up quite awhile on pavement, but work awesome offroad

BFgoodrich mud terrains are excellent tires also..they arent the all terrains everyones been telling you about..and they have a very good Repuatation and also have a few different styles in the mud terrain which is cool

Pro Comp Mud Terrains are also extremely good..alot of people as well have these and they have been known to be quite good on the pavement
Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrains are really nice..and these are what im prolly going to get..they arent as agressive with big side walls...but they have a 40,000 mile life garuntee which is really nice...and ive talked to people who have them..and they say they work great offroad and are quiet onroad and are pretty much just great all around
Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrains..just a different style to the orignal mud terrain..but ive heard good things as well

I hope this helps..and once again..some of these might be a lil pricey..im not sure the prices on a 30 inch tire..but it shouldnt be to bad..but just be careful on your decision..you cant have huge lugs and expext 50k out of them

shop around on the web..you can find decent deals...good luck

i have the mickey thompson baja claws and they have tread all the way to the rim and i cant seem to get stuck with them they clean out real nice and i run them on a new duramax and they wear great for being on a heavy truck so i think you would get even more miles out of them on your lighter truck
