Depends on what series u plan on running, having an AMA card is nice to have even if u don't use it , with it u can get discounts on bike parts from bike bandit , discounts on hotel rooms and alot of other perks mine pays for itself every year just from parts I order and your supporting our right to ride and race

I would think if its a AMA harescramble, then you would need to be a member.
Can you call the organization that is holding it to find out?

To run WYNOA Harescrambles an AMA card is needed.

As stated in their 2013 rules and guidelines
