on my 07 cr125 i cant get the steel thing out to grease the bearing any idea how to get it out?

The top mounting bolt on the rear shock, more-or-less holds the rear end together. If you have it on a stand, then the weight of the swingarm and rear wheelset is pulling down on that bolt, making it hard to pull out. If the bike is on a tri-stand or on the ground then all of the tension on the rear spring is on that very bolt. Put it on a stand and then lift the rear wheel up while you're trying to remove the bolt.

I just had the same problem. After sticking a screw driver through my finger I gave up. After you had the linkage out, you could not get the spacer out to get to the barings

yeah i just put it back together i got tired of messing with it.
